Our Methodology
Calculations use simplified versions of each state's published guideline formula: Income Shares model for 41 states, Percentage of Income for 6 states, and a simplified Melson Formula for Delaware, Hawaii, and Montana. State formula data is sourced from the National Conference of State Legislatures and official state court documentation.
